I'm a bit REBELLIOUS when it comes to weddings.

I'm "rebellious" because I don't take any staged photos, I'm purely there to document, to be a curious witness of the day .

I know that sounds controversial in relation to the idea of conventional wedding photography, but I've never played by the rules.

I tried conforming to the unwritten rules of wedding photography but, to me staged photos felt disingenuous, no one in this world has all their shit together, so why is it that, especially at a wedding should we try and project some kind of perfection? Let's instead, celebrate the full spectrum of being human.

It's the seemingly 'mundane' moments that I love the most.
The authentic fleeting moments, where personality is unleashed, when people are comfortable and connection is created through a shared moment.  To me, art exists in the every day and it's capturing the perfectly imperfect moments that bring me the most joy.

I document the entire 'story' of the day through an empathetic and honest view.

So what would it be like working with me on your wedding day?

My hope is that you will actually forget that I am even there.  Your job is to just be in your day, enjoy the time with your friends and family and trust that I will show you the beautiful, candid and unscripted reality of your day.

Let me be your eyes while you are heading to the service full of excitement and nerves.  Let me be your eyes while you are busy catching up with your relatives and perhaps passing a glass of water to someone who "might need it".  I will photograph the mingling, the laughter, the 'moment the wine hits', the dancing, the tears...the atmosphere of the day and of course, no, I most definitely  won't forget about you two.

I love to photograph the chaos of weddings, but I don't call myself a Wedding Photographer, I am first and foremost a human inspired documentary photographer so your album will depict this narrative.

What is your style for photographing weddings?

There is no formula.  My art is created through my own pure observation of the day you have created.  No wedding is alike, nor should it be.  I approach wedding photography with a quirky sense of observation, unconditional positive regard for others, a felt sense of connection within groups of people and how all the elements are joined together.  I create a candid and relatable depiction of the day, unscripted and honest.

When I am working I'm in my zone, some call it creative FLOW.  My brain is a bit like a border collie watching 100 separate mobs of sheep. As the day unfolds, so do people and it's through the process of observation that I create my work.

My practice is kind of like no-FOMO documentary photography.  Through my lens you will get to see how your guests experienced the day alongside you.  â€‹

How many hours will you be there?

It's all very intuitive and each wedding varies.  This is something we will talk about during our pre-wedding meetings. If it's 12 hours then I will be there.  I usually start fading about an hour into the dancing, but I don't for the life of me want to miss too much more.  By the end of the night my brain is usually overstimulated, my bed is calling and it's not only my camera batteries that are flat.  As soon as I start to feel too fatigued, I will check in with you both to make sure I'm not going to miss anything else that was planned, then I call it a night. â€‹â€‹
